Bobby Jones, who helped design the revered Augusta National Golf Club, once said this: “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots, but you still have to play the ball where it lies.” Philosophising aside, there are good golf courses, there are great golf courses and then there are these, the world’s most amazing golf courses. Chosen because of their history, their challenge or their magnificence, golfing here is the sign of a life well lived. But you still have to play the ball where it lies.
