Royal Selangor toasts the tradition of tea with its new Tranquility collection

time for some tea

The act of sipping tea is associated with calm – from the serene lakeside tea pavilions of China’s royal dynasties to the refined clink of porcelain in an elegant British tea lounge. In tribute to tea – the beverage that has given its name to an entire category of meal – Royal Selangor has introduced its latest pewter collection, Tranquility.

The collection takes reference from the idyllic natural landscapes of the Far East, where the rugged peaks, precipitous cliffs and towering karst formations tumble dramatically to mighty rivers. These scenes, wrapped in Oriental clouds, have been a potent source of inspiration for countless generations of poets, scholars and artists – many of who sipped tea while contemplating their works. The mountains are featured prominently on the collection’s teapot and tea caddies, with Tranquility also includes teacups (porcelain, with a pewter handle) as well as items peculiar to the art of tea – a Yixing clay tea pet to ‘raise’ with tea liquor, a pitcher for tea service and a delightfully ornate tea scoop.
