Let there be light

The assortment of circles, each made of mottled glass surrounded by a gleaming bronze frame, are positioned at deliberate angles in mid-air. When the circuit is complete, light filters through the circles of the Luna chandelier in a bright, undulating way that is almost like being illuminated through the leaves of a tree under bright moonlight. This callback to nature isn’t accidental or unplanned; it is the deliberate signature of Serip, a Portuguese studio that specialises in creating gorgeous lighting solutions.

As its name suggest, the Luna chandelier takes direct inspiration from the moon, sharing the same bronze-and-glass circle motif with other items in collection, including wall sconces, table lamps and cascading waterfall for staircases. Other Serip collections are anchored to other natural forms; Coral simulates the intricate web of coral reefs in bronze, Pathleaf is a carpet of bronze leafs on a forest floor in autumn, Wind captures the frozen trajectory of reeds blowing in the breeze, Glamour uses frozen shards of icicles as muse and Waterfall celebrate liquid movement in all its forms. All are handcrafted at Serip’s studio in Lisbon, then flown across the world to be installed in high-end projects, with the ornate style resonating particularly in Russia, China and the Middle East.
