Striking a balance
A statement entrance-hall piece that’s as clever as it is crisply designed, the limited-edition Sumo bench (from £10,995, RM57,540) embodies the same strength, exceptional grace and low centre of gravity as the Japanese wrestlers it’s named after. Created by British furniture-maker Troo Heath-Crew, the bench is made of solid sustainable American black walnut and measures 2.2m in length. Its two wool-upholstered seats – each with its own side table – lift up to reveal a roomy storage area for shoes and boots, as well as removable, leather-lined trugs to hold smaller items, such as keys, dog leads and driving gloves.
