Maserati Ghibli Nerissimo is a blinding shot in the dark

By Sam Yen | June 18, 2017

dark is the knight

There is black. And there is extremely black. The Maserati Ghibli Nerissimo – a special edition of just 450 – belongs to the latter.

Nerissimo is an Italian expression that means ‘the blackest’, so it’s a fitting moniker for a car where the Urano wheels (all 20 inches of them), door handles, exterior trim and grille are all dipped in the deepest, darker noir. The only hint of colour on the exterior of this North America-only Maserati edition are the brake calipers – red – and the silver gleam of the Il Tridente logo.

The interior is equally as light-absorbing on the colour spectrum. Offered in the Ghibli, Ghibli S and Ghibli SQ4 variations, there is enough black here to make a Goth – or the Knight Rider – envious. Black leather is stretched out across the seats, dashboard and armrests; only red stitching provides an outlining contrast. A centre console plaque denotes that particular Nerissimo’s place in the 450-unit production run, with the Ghibli S and SQ4 models equipped with a Harman Kardon stereo system. So what are you waiting for? Get in and drive off into the night.
