When Bob Parsons founded Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) in 2014, he hired a former Ping engineer and Ping’s former director of product development and gave them free rein to build the best-performing clubs they could. After spending more than US$12 million on research, development and facilities, PXG recently launched its first line of clubs.

It includes drivers, fairway woods and hybrids, all of which can be modified with a variety of interchangeable tungsten and titanium weights. The line also features irons and wedges that look like blades but offer the forgiveness of larger game-improvement clubs, as well as putters milled from stainless steel and aircraft-grade aluminium.

The PXG experience on offer is a three-day program that begins with a custom fitting with the company’s top engineers for a full set. You can then christen the clubs over two rounds of golf with a PXG ambassador at Scottsdale National Golf Club, a private course on 290 acres in Arizona’s McDowell Mountain Range.

“Being fit by the guys who actually had a hand in designing the club,” says Parsons, “well, that’s really special and something only a select few can say they’ve experienced.”
