Officine Panerai showcases its new minute repeater
Sound of emotion
In the privacy of a St Regis KL hotel suite, the clear and crisp tones of a carillon minute repeater sound out the time. The sound originated from the new Radiomir 1940 Minute Repeater Carillon Tourbillon GMT (€359,000, RM1,660,000), a decimal repeater inspired by the bell onboard the twin-masted classic sailing yacht Eilean; the restoration of which to her original 1936 glory was personally supervised by Officine Panerai CEO, Angelo Bonati
A quartet of Robb Report readers were hosted by experts from the Panerai manufactory in Neuchatel. Every minute repeater purchase is accompanied by a spruce wood resonance box – only one in every 10,000 trees meets Panerai’s exacting standards. The same perfectionism is applied to the watch itself – at time of print fewer than five watchmakers at Officine Panerai are certified for assembly of the melodious piece.
