Penfolds Wine Collection For Southeast Asia

 Vintage appeal

Born in 1844, Penfolds gave its new vintage release of The Penfolds Collection 2018 its Southeast Asian debut in Bangkok. Headlined by the 64th consecutive release of Grange, Chief Winemaker Peter Gago was on hand to officiate the event and celebrate this flagship wine that Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate had given 98 points out of 100 in 2014.

While Grange led the charge, each wine within the Collection has its own individual style, the continuity of which takes precedence over regions, vineyard, and origin. This is personified aptly in the 2016 Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz, well known for its universal appeal and reliable reputation.

Another interesting release was the Reserve Bin A, a trial wine from the comprehensive Yattarna development project. Yielding a Chardonnay that’s at once crisp and complex, this wine made sure to uphold the Penfolds mantra of going where the fruit grows best and where it best suits the style.
