The debut of SpotLight in Asia took place towards the end of last year at the EQ Kuala Lumpur, with guests flying in from all corners of the globe to support the occasion. The event’s mission to raise awareness and provide education for underprivileged children clearly touched a chord among the guests, who contributed towards a sum of several hundred thousand. A welcome note by SpotLight Kuala Lumpur patron TS Yap was followed by heartfelt thanks from the representatives of the two beneficiaries; Anie Hashim Djojohadikusumo of Wadah Foundation and Deborah Henry of Fugee School.

Among the luminaries in attendance were CNN Heroes, Pushpa Basnet of Nepal (CNN Super Hero 2016, CNN Hero 2012) and Robin Lim of Indonesia (CNN Hero 2011). Also lending his support to the charitable cause was the late actor and celebrity Godfrey Gao, who helped in the charity auction of a limited edition Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2013 by Castiglion del Bosco. Other sponsors who contributed charity bid items and in kind were Datuk Jimmy Choo and Dato’ Rezuawan Ismail (popularly known as Chef Wan), One&Only Desaru Coast, Zung Ninja, Elo, Lotus Arts de Vivre, Venuescape, Ruyi, The Marini’s Group, Pernod Ricard Malaysia, Vino Veritas and Razak Luxe Décor.
