Move Over K-Pop

In Shakespearean London they were called ‘Playing Companies’ – a dynamic collective of actors and showmen who filled theatres and halls with enraptured fans. In the same fashion, the Korea Tourism Organisation is training a limelight on the newest and most exciting entertainment troupes emerging from Korea today. Under the novel banner, ‘Korea Performing Arts Tourism’, their hope is for the world to see Korean artists as far more diversified than the average cookie-cutter K-Pop band.

At the recent K-Performance Show 2019  (27-28 July), a several performers offered a sample of their impressive talents at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s Plenary Hall. These outstanding acts included The Painters with their electric blend of live drawing mixed with dance, Jump – a balletic martial arts comedy, Sachoom X EDM – a ensemble focusing on dance as self-expression, and Vixx Leo a multi-faceted singer, songwriter and musical actor.

To ensure the showcases’ success, Korea Tourism Organisation partnered with Klook, a leading travel activities and service booking platform, together with Malaysia Airlines and Astro, who are each collaborating to provide flight promotions and disseminating content.
