A collection of timepiece connoisseurs were welcomed recently at Blancpain’s very first standalone boutique in Malaysia, located at Suria KLCC shopping centre, beneath the shadow of the world-famous Petronas Twin Towers. Here, among the genteel atmosphere of wood-panelled cabinets and an expansive picture screen of the Swiss summer landscape, guests sipped on champagne. Following an introduction by Emmy Tellier, Blancpain’s Vice-President for South-East Asia, the guests were then introduced to the stellar 2018 collection by Blancpain, a watchmaker which traces its roots to 1735 when it was founded by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain.

Among the exquisite pieces were Blancpain’s Metier d’Art collection which utilises a variety of artistic crafts; shakudo, binchotan and damascening, among others. Also on display was the third edition of Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms Ocean Commitment which was release on June 8 to coincide with World Oceans Day. For every piece sold from this limited run of 250 pieces, Blancpain donates €1,000 to the Ocean Commitment programme, while each owner becomes a member to the Blancpain Ocean Commitment Circle, that organises private events and conferences for ongoing scientific expeditions financed by Blancpain.
