Vega Sicilia’s Valbuena 5° is a rich reminder of an aristocratic tradition

The great age of Spain

Few exemplify Spain’s great ageing tradition like Vega Sicilia. The winery’s uniqueness lies in its stunningly complex flagship wine Unico – released 10 years after harvest, and its extremely rare Unico Reserva Especial – a blend of selected Unico vintages. Vega Sicilia’s second label, Valbuena 5°, which sees no less than five years of ageing before release, is a robust expression of tempranillo blended with merlot and cabernet sauvignon. This heavily aromatic and softly textured wine with toasty vanilla and spiced notes makes for a superb introduction to Vega Sicilia, which remains, without a doubt, in the pantheon of the most acclaimed and unusual wine producers on the planet. In Malaysia, the Vega Sicilia 2010 is priced at RM598 per bottle and is available at Milawa outlets
