A most opulent instrument – The Grand Bohemian Piano
Never has an instrument been more aptly named. Created for Austrian piano maker Bösendorfer by entrepreneur Richard Kessler and artist Franco Castelluccio, the Grand Bohemian Piano is a preening peacock of an eighty-eight. Literally.
Named after Richard Kessler’s Grand Bohemian boutique hotels and inspired by his personal collection, the Grand Bohemian is a Baroque fantasy – a bronze cast base of sculpted trees anchors the instrument, where bronze woodland creatures frolic among fruits and three proud peacocks perch. On the music stand, a solitary peacock sits, unfurling its majestic feathers. Dramatic and grand, this limited edition piece is as much a musical instrument as it is a work of art. And lest you think the zoological opulence is where it ends, think again – LED lighting in the sounding board and under the base gives off an ethereal glow, while the frame is gilded by 23-carat gold, delineating the vibrant red of the lid and rim.
