DeGem Puts Pink Conch Pearls In The Spotlight For Their Latest Jewellery Collection

By Juern Ng | August 23, 2023

DeGem is revisiting history by unveiling the comeback of pink conch pearls and by introducing a collection that sees the rare beauties set in earrings, pendants and brooches that are bound to make a lasting impression.

The first conch pearl jewellery sets date back to the Victorian era but disappeared from public view during the interwar period. Touted today as a ‘rediscovered’ pearl, pink conch pearls are once again coming into the spotlight and are found only in the most exclusive jewellery collections.

Made by queen conch molluscs found in the Caribbean Sea, conch pearls sport a pastel hue; they are usually in beige or ivory, but enough are pink for them to be called ‘pink pearls’ by the trade. A conch pearl of considerable value may possess a colour of anywhere from a deep rose red and salmon orange to deep pink. Conch pearls that are sized beyond four carats are extremely rare. In fact, one conch pearl is only found in every 10,000 queen conch molluscs, so these pearls are truly few and far between.

DeGem is a regional mine-to-market jeweller specialising in sourcing rare gemstones, so its latest pink conch pearl collection is a marvel to behold. It features earrings with conch pearls that total up to 13 carats, a 10-carat conch pearl scorpion diamond brooch and a natural conch pearl pendant of 35 carats that pairs perfectly with a green jadeite beaded necklace for a timelessly elegant style.
