Ermenegildo Zegna gains some beach appeal

ready for the sun

From sharp suits to sunny swimwear, Ermenegildo Zegna has made its first jump into the pool of beachwear. Partnering with Italian textile manufacturer ISA – which produces underwear for Zegna – Creative Director Alessandro Sartori has created a joyous 67-piece line, consisting of boxer shorts, tailored swimming trunks, polo/boat-neck shirts and requisite beach accessories like towels and beach totes. “It is meant to have a fresh, summery Italian appeal,” he says. And it shows.

Launched in Sydney, Australia and united by bright shades of reds and blues, the new Zegna beachwear collection uses lightweight technical fabrics like fast-drying nylons, a cotton-Teflon blend and the proprietery Microlite fabric, all of which ensure that it is just as easy to get dry as it is to get wet. There is also a subtle sartorial connection – the fat bayadère stripe motif dotted around the collection are also featured in the Ermenegildo Zegna Couture Spring 2018. Prices for the Ermenegildo Zegna beachwear collection start from US$185/RM725.
