The future of cameras is Hasselblad’s X1D 4116

By Sam Yen | October 19, 2016

Point, perfect and shoot

It is not often that a camera gets called a work of art, but Hasselblad cameras would certainly fit that description. And while it continues to produce top-of-the-line kits like the X1D 4116 editions that sells for US$13,000 (RM53,700), it is also busy engineering the future; a future that looks like the Hasselblad V1D 4116 Concept.

Based on the design of the Hasselblad V, the V1D is meant to be completely modular – a ‘black box’ that can be configured with displays, viewfinders and accessories on the top and back, as well as controls and grips on the side, whichever way you want. Especially if you’re left handed. At its core, the camera is a 75 megapixel shooter, artillery that is powerful enough to capture the cosmos, while the square body harks back to the Swedish company’s classic designs, a elegant way of merging Hasselblad’s past with what it views its future to be.
