Kens Apothecary recently staged a fragrance experience at Else Hotel Kuala Lumpur that was as intimate as it was sensorial, gathering connoisseurs of scent and beauty into a multi-sensory journey with some of the world’s most storied niche perfume houses.

The Fragrance Experience Day unfolded within the airy surrounds of SOMEWHERE at ELSE, where five celebrated brands—BORNTOSTANDOUT, Floraïku Paris, MEMO Paris, Maison Crivelli, and BDK Parfums—presented their latest launches not only with fragrance blotters, but also through thoughtfully designed stations that shared the stories behind their latest parfums.

Journeying through the exhibition, guests were welcomed into the space with BORNTOSTANDOUT’s striking red station that stood out against the Kuala Lumpur skyline. True to their bold, unconventional ethos, one of their latest—Gold Juice, an eau that combines the polarising sillage of durian with the sweetness of mango—took centre stage, foregrounding its siblings within the house’s Eau Intimité collection.

In stark contrast, Floraïku’s station served as the next stop, showcasing poetic, haiku-inspired compositions that evoke the warm radiance of summer. This was then followed by MEMO Paris, famed for evoking the romance of travel and far-flung landscapes through scent; and Maison Crivelli, who showcased its contemporary approach to olfactive surprises. Last on the stop was BDK Parfums’ station, adorned in a cacophony of pink and white florals that revealed the creative subtleties of one of the brand’s latest, Impadia.

Guided in small groups, guests were invited to discover the artistry behind each creation, exploring origins, inspirations, and the key notes that define each olfactory narrative. It was a setting where perfume became less a product and more a personal story told in fragrance. Indeed, the evening was not just about the showcase of new launches, but also about connection—with the brands, with the creators, and with the enduring allure of perfumery itself.
