His Majesty the Oud

When the wood of the Southeast Asian agar tree is infected with a particular kind of mould, the tree produces a dark scented resin called oud – one of the world’s most expensive ingredients used in fragrances. Atkinsons uses pure natural oud – the rarest of its kind – in this olfactory homage to the precious ingredient. His Majesty the Oud (S$305/RM915 for 100ml) begins with top notes of Lapsang Souchong tea and cloves, with leather, cedar and sandalwood at its heart. Pure oud extract from Laos is contrasted with styrax and vanilla at its base.
