Velvet goldmine
From their jewellery-laden bazaars to their much-coveted towels, the Turkish certainly know a thing or two about living life in splendour. Istanbul-based shoe designer Serena Uziyel’s velvet slippers are all about that gilt trip, too – they’ll transform the feet of any woman into those of an empress. Sanayi 313’s Multi Ragno slippers (EUR 1,255/RM 5,275) are handcrafted from black velvet and painstakingly stitched with antiqued-gold bees, a delicate process that can take as long as 18 hours.
