Hock’s gorgeous dumbbells get you into great shape

While we’re all big fans of exercise, we are much less keen on the equipment. No matter how fancy your gym is, everything that occupies it tends to be an uninspired network of black steel and rubber. The German manufacturer doesn’t simply dip its tools in gold and call it a day – its €99,000 (RM462,500) 18k gold Goldloft dumbbells notwithstanding – but keeps all its products stylishly minimal. This Loft Dumbbell Set ($10,000/RM41,800) is a prime example, featuring a 37 inch-tall rack made from oiled solid walnut and stainless steel and built to hold a set of five pairs of dumbbells ranging from 2 to 6kg. Smaller configurations are also available.

Every item by Hock is meticulously crafted, going through lengthy design adjustments and 3D modelling before a prototype is allowed on the table. The materials are also environmentally friendly, using only certified sustainably grown wood that’s treated with natural vegetable oil as well as vegetable-tanned leather. Now the only thing you need to feel guilty about is not putting these products to good use.
