The script of the serpent

Fearless creativity and craftsmanship par excellence, these are just two of the qualities that the talented artisans of Atelier Montblanc brought to the writing table when creating The Serpent Limited Edition Writing Instruments for the Montblanc Heritage Collection Rouge & Noir.

As part of the brand’s Black & White Week 2016, showcasing the brand’s timepieces, jewellery and leather goods for year, special attention was of course paid to writing instruments, given the 110 years that Montblanc has been associated with the art of penmanship.

The piece de resistance of the line is the unique €1.2 million (RM5.5 million) The Ultimate Serpent Limited Edition 1, the only one in existence. Only the finest materials were selected: 99g of gold – the most ever used by Montblanc for a fountain pen – where a single piece of Au750 rose gold makes up the body and serpent.

The serpent is entirely hand-engraved and adorned with 153 individually-cut diamonds while the cap and barrel are set with approximately 1,950 dark blue sapphires. Upon removing the cap, a second serpent becomes visible; the head situated on the nib set with two rubies to illuminate the eyes in flashing brilliance.
