What does it take to reinvent a calendar watch? Five years, for a start. This year’s fruition of that half-decade journey results in the Royal Oak RD#2 by Audemars Piguet features the new ultra-thin 5133 calibre (at only 2.89mm) with the perpetual calendar complication. This piece of haute horlogerie is sheathed in an ultra-thin proposition offering ergonomy, efficiency and robustness in a 950 platinum case and bracelet. Its 41mm case of 6.3mm takes 2mm off the Royal Oak Extra-Thin Jumbo, making the Royal Oak RD#2 the thinnest automatic perpetual calendar on the market today.
