Since its founding 30 years ago, the visionary Jacob Arabo has created high-end timepieces and exquisite jewellery which have become the piece de resistance in the ensembles of Hollywood royalty, high society and heads of state. A lot of it is down to the fine attentions of craftsmanship and sumptuous stones. At this year’s BaselWorld, Jacob & Co world premiered the Twin Turbo (RM1.615 million) – a grand complication manual-winding timepiece which combines tourbillon and minute repeater.

A cursory examination reveals the spectacularly constructed double triple-axis tourbillons, turning at a uniform rate of 40 seconds, three minutes and four minutes respectively on every cycle, ensuring a consistent spread of gravitational forces on the balance. Its decimal minute repeater chimes the hours, 10-minute intervals and minutes on deep-sounding cathedral gongs.

This entire opus to horology, which took two years to develop and more than 3,300 hours of labour, is made up of 572 components encased in a 57 by 51mm titanium and carbon fibre case with a smoked sapphire dial.
