Timeless portrait

Last year, Jaeger Le-Coultre collaborated with its Dutch boutique partner, Gassan, to design a tribute timepiece to Vincent van Gogh. Gassan had three criteria for its van Gogh tribute: craftsmanship, art and heritage had to come alive through the timepiece.

The result was a Reverso a Eclipse timepiece that bore two shutters, both of which could be separated at the push of a button to reveal van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting.

This year, the watch manufacture revealed yet another addition to its series of tributes, this time, in a platinum case, and powered by in-house calibre 849. Similar to the first release, a press of the switch at two o’clock reveals a miniature enamel painting of one of van Gogh’s self-portraits.

Only four pieces will be made, and can be viewed in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
