Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Thousand Year Lights

A floral fantasy

The Jaquet Droz Petite Heure Minute Thousand Year Lights timepiece is a celebration of beautiful flowers and beautiful women. Unveiled at Baselworld 2016 and limited to only 28 pieces, the ladies watch uses an unusual, unique technique in its craft. Mined from the techniques of the Korean Goryeo dynasty, the Najeon Chilgi method is used to encrust mother-of-pearl in lacquer. The black lacquer dial is used as a representation of the night sky, on which delicate lacquered flowers of mother-of-pearl shine in pearlescent. The technique involves careful application of mother-of-pearl, lacquered then polished with utmost care to give a luminescent surface. Paint is then applied carefully by hand to yield a nocturnal landscape of gleaming blooms.

FEATJaquet-Droz_1The watch is finished with alligator leather straps in black or dark blue, and has a 68-hour power reserve. Two cases sizes are available – 35mm and 39mm.
