Death comes in the end. If you were slightly macabre (and who are we to judge?) you could keep a visual reminder of that inevitable march to demise in the form of the L’Epée 1839 Requiem table clock.
Designed by the Swiss clockmaker as a representation of the Latin phrase memento mori (‘remember that you must die’), the Requiem is a literal skull. Available in black (with a gold-plated brass movement) or silver (with a palladium-plated movement), the clock tells the time through the eye sockets, ticking away. The skull itself is made of aluminium, weighing at a sturdy 2kg. Standing at about 19cm high, a holographic mechanism within designed by Kostas Metaxas shimmers through the L’Epée 1839’s crossed sword logo, slashed on either side of the skull. Powered by the 1853 HMD movement (with 8 day power reserve), the Requiem is limited to 50 pieces for each design.
