Meet The Panerai Submersible Goldtech OroCarbo, It’s Built Adventure-Tough

By Wei-Yu Wang | October 09, 2020

The Panerai Submersible Goldtech OroCarbo (RM115,900) is a handsome two-tone wristwatch that is a showcase of the brand’s inventiveness. Two of the brand’s signature materials, Goldtech and Carbotech, are presented on the same execution for the first time, in the form of a 44 mm diving watch on a rubber strap.

The case and crown guard are fashioned from Goldtech, a gold alloy that includes a good amount of copper as well as a bit of platinum. The result has a distinctive warm hue, and boasts of a considerable resistance to wear and corrosion.

The bezel, crown and crown lever are crafted out of Carbotech, a composite consisting of layers of carbon fibre and a polymer binder. It has all the advantages of carbon fibre, such as lightness and toughness, but has a unique matte texture thanks to the creation process, which involves layers of carbon fibre sheets assembled in alternating orientations.

Presented in a versatile 44 mm diameter, it is otherwise a typical Panerai Submersible – a tough, reliable diver, rated to a depth of 300 metres. Beneath the black DLC titanium caseback is a proven, in-house automatic calibre that boasts of a three-day power reserve.
