From a single calibre comes an attractive and worthy traveller’s timepiece, the Parmigiani Toric Hémisphères Rétrograde (RM115,600). Following on from the Tonda Hémisphères released in 2010, the maison now extends this exceptional movement to the Toric collection — its founding model. The two time zones can be disconnected from each other via the small crown at 2 o’clock; the main crown serves the purpose of winding and setting the time of the two paired zones while maintaining the desired interval. Each zone, accurate to the nearest minute, is awarded a dedicated day/night indicator, to allow for time reading in the swiftest glance.

Hierarchal differentiation between the dual time displays is done by way of materials, where the hands of the main time zone are plated in 4N gold and coated in Super-LumiNova while those of the secondary dial are presented in a more discreet rhodium. Gracefully displayed in an arc around the lower segment of the main dial are date numerals, indicated by a hand tipped with a red crescent moon. The rose gold case features the signature Toric knurled bezel, while on the reverse one finds Geneva stripes and circular-graining framing the 22ct rose gold guilloché rotor.
