Here’s Why Piaget’s Polo Skeleton Is An Ultra-Thin Masterpiece

Piaget has been making skeleton watches since the 1970s, and the Polo came along in 1979, but only this year do we see the Polo Skeleton (RM123,000). Although it retains the key Polo design codes, such as the cushion-shaped dial opening on the round case, the bracelet, and the 42mm steel case with flat bezel, it is significantly thinner – slimmed by about 30 per cent to just 6.5mm in depth. 

The openworked movement makes for wonderful viewing from both front and back, with gears and bridges laid out artfully with Piaget’s usual elegant touch. It is an automatic movement with 44 hours of power reserve, but the usage of a micro-rotor ensures the rotor remains unobstructed.

The Polo Skeleton is available in either blue or grey. It ships with an extra colour-matched leather strap, while the bracelet is of a new quick-change design that lets the user alter their mood on a whim.
