Richard Mille RM 11-03 Automatic Flyback Chronograph

Succession planning

A stalwart of the Richard Mille collection since 2007, the RM 011 has now been succeeded by this, the latest chronograph-equipped piece by the maverick atelier.

The pusher between the 4 and 5 o’clock resets the chronograph without first having to stop the mechanism; directly above it the oversized titanium crown recalls the design of motorsport wheels and tyre treads.

Other complications include a prominent date display under the 12 o’clock with automatic adjustment for months of 30 and 31 days and a more discreet month display found on the same corner as the flyback reset pusher.

Differentiating the RM 11-03 from lifestyle collections are the chamfering and buffing of the case surfaces, also the speed at which automatic winding takes place. In daily use, the inertia of the rotor is augmented to hasten winding while the opposite occurs during frequent arm movements typical of sporting activities.
