Starhill Gallery Celebrates ‘A Journey Through Time’
A decade of decadence
Aptly named ‘A Journey Through Time X’, Asia’s premier timepiece and jewellery showcase returns to Starhill Gallery from November 4 to 13, 2016. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the theme for this year’s edition is ‘Legacy and Icons’. Opening the event is the annual Tourism and Culture Gala Night: Watch and Jewellery of the Year Awards Presentation 2016 with a performance by British mezzo-soprano Carly Paoli.
The ten days of A Journey Through Time X will see the exhibition of rare private collections, first-in-market editions and the exceptional pieces from the world’s leading watch and jewellery brands, many of which have outposts in Starhill Gallery, arguably the pinnacle destination for Malaysian luxury shopping.
A first for the exhibition is the inaugural JeweLuxe showcase, featuring jewellers from Europe, Asia and Stateside including Paolo Costagli, Zydo, Hans D. Krieger and Chavana. Singapore is represented by not one but two jewellery houses: Simone Jewels and Infiniti Jewels.
Of significant note for the local timepiece scene is a presentation by Malaysia’s first watchmaking company, MASA Horlogerie, founded and helmed by Dr. Ahmad Syahid Mohd. Fadzil. Elsewhere, British designer Dame Zandra Rhodes honours the songket with her own contemporary take while private dinners and high-tea sessions dot the calendar leading up to the first-ever Closing Party at Shook!.
