The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph Has Returned In A Pink Gold Rendition

There are few executions out there that host calibre RD780, Roger Dubuis’ extravagant take on the flyback chronograph movement, and they are generally in that ultra-sporty, carbon-and-ceramic makeup that looks like it was taken straight out of a hypercar. But the new Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph, which is limited to 88 pieces, is a little more dressed up. Its 45mm diameter case is crafted out of pink gold, adding a dash of precious elegance to what is otherwise still a rather audacious and dramatic watch.

Calibre RD780 is a visually arresting movement, which is a fortunate quality in a skeletonised watch. The column wheel is visible at 6 o’clock, as is the tilted balance wheel at 9 o’clock.  At 3 o’clock is the Rotating Minute Counter, a patent-pending feature that boldly showcases up to 30 elapsed minutes via a three-part indicator paired with a zero-to-nine track. The second patent-pending feature is a braking mechanism included in the vertical clutch that helps stabilise the seconds hand. The movement also satisfies the stringent aesthetic and performance demands of the Poinçon de Genève hallmark.

Equipped with a black rubber strap that is something of a material counterpoint to the case, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph is limited to just 88 pieces.
