The unique Chopard LUC Perpetual T – Spirit of the Chinese Zodiac

Chopard is no stranger to the Chinese zodiac, as their LUC XP Urushi collection will attest to. This year, however, they have something a bit different up its sleeve with the one-off LUC Perpetual T – Spirit of the Chinese Zodiac. Fans of the marque will know what ‘Perpetual T’ means: the manually-wound in-house LUC Calibre 02.15-L, which features a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon and over one week of power reserve, as well as being chronometer-certified and bearing the prestigious Poincon de Geneve hallmark.

Of course, for a timepiece like this, it is the aesthetic artistry that is the real draw. The case is 18- carat rose gold, and set off beautifully with black accents on the bezel and the black patterned dial. Each of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac are engraved on the case and marked with black patina. Such is the commitment to the black-and-rose-gold theme that even the steel bridge that sits over the tourbillon has been blackened. Like many other Chopard pieces, there is a definite air of art deco to the design.
