The unlikely watchmaking duo of Laurent Ferrier and Urwerk have teamed up for a sequel

second time around

In an unusual partnership, classicist Laurent Ferrier and the avant-garde URWERK teamed up last year to create the Arpal One. ‘One’ is a fitting name; just a single example was created, for the 2017 edition of the Only Watch charity auction. There’s a happy epilogue for the rest of us who missed out, however: the Arpal One was so well-received that the two watchmakers are collaborating again.

The new timepieces bear a similar DNA to the Arpal One: the wandering hours mechanism that is a URWERK trademark is back, powered by the same self-winding UR5.03 movement. The 61mm by 41mm case, too, is the sleek design that bears the touch of Laurent Ferrier’s elegance, inspired by his favourite cars. The finish is certainly different, though — instead of a polished alloy, the case material is a matte, sandblasted titanium.

The watches are as yet unnamed, and are priced at CHF88,000 (RM361,000). Only four of them are being made, so you might want to hurry.
